Property by the sea

How can I find a property with a sea view?

The gentle lapping of waves on the shore, or the crash of big Atlantic storms on the cliff to Victorian seaside resorts with fairs and Ice cream, the UK coastline really is remarkably varied for such a small Island.

Despite miles of coastline, finding a property with a sea view can be like a search for a needle in a haystack. An estate agent will market a sea view whenever possible even if you are 5 miles away and can only see it from your attic window!

One of the reasons that there is so little property directly overlooking the sea is because the UK coastline is very well protected by bodies such as the National Trust. Therefore except for the few exceptions most sea view property is confined to seaside resorts, harbour towns and fishing villages.

A sea view or a property very close to the sea tends to demand a premium, which varies on the part of the country, you are in. For example Cornwall and Devon with a huge tourist industry are very expensive while you could pick up an old crofters cottage on a Scottish Isle or a property on Anglesey in North Wales much cheaper.
